Hours

The peak hours that are most likely to be booked are 6-10 PM BJT Sunday-Friday. So for me in Mountain Time March-October, that is 4-8 AM. That will change once we fall back November-March to 3-7 AM. Some more peak times that are really likely to be booked are Friday and Saturday evenings and all night. I would say the only bummer to the job is the hours. But once you've adjusted and get to know the kids, it's really fun and worth it. Also, those are just the hours that are most likely to get booked quickly. You can work outside of those hours and they get booked quite a bit too. If the kids are on a break from school in China, a lot of evening classes seem to get booked for us (morning for them). Summer has a lot of peak evening hours!

Here is what my schedule looks like so this all makes sense...

This is my unbooked schedule the week of 6/19. I can still make changes to it if I need to. Parents and students can start booking a week in advance. So, the week of 6/19 will be available for them to book me on 6/11 at 12:00 PM BJT (Beijing Time). The dark orange slots are "hot" times. They will book the fastest because students are most likely to take classes during those two hours. The light orange slots are "peak" times. They book very quickly, but are usually chosen after all the "hot" times are taken. I have never opened up a light orange slot and had it not book. Those have always booked just as fast for me. The white slots are not super likely to be booked, but occasionally do get booked (the kids are at school, sleeping, etc).

Starting in July, there is an enormous about of "peak" times because the kids will be out of school and will be able to take classes all day long.

I hope this is helpful! Again, you have a lot of flexibility with your schedule. Obviously, I've only been teaching 1.5 hours five days a week right now, but in the past, I have done 4-8 AM five days a week. It really is up to you!
